ABOUT LUCY, HER SPORT & LIFE
What does a regular training week look like for you?
I have a pretty busy training week. Being an Iron woman means that we have to train for multiple disciplines. I train 16 sessions a week - this includes 4 swims, 3 runs, 2 gym sessions, 2 iron sessions, 2 board sessions and 3 ski sessions.
What's the biggest challenge you've overcome as an athlete?
My biggest challenge I have overcome as an athlete would definitely be dealing with pressure. I used to always be afraid of letting people down or not being good enough. I would always have high expectations of myself. Now I embrace the moment, and have enough self belief that I don't mind the feeling of pressure before I race. Dealing with pressure has made me a better athlete and has made me love racing even more.
What do you love most about your sport?
There are so many things to love about Surf Life Saving! I think what I love most about it is that I get to be surrounded by an amazing community. I have made life long friends, I've met my partner and I have a great connection with my coach/mentor.
