JOLYN BIKINI REVIEW: A tie bikini that stays on
– A surf bikini review by Billie Gurr for Still Stoked
If you're a female surfer of any level, I'm sure you've faced a range of bikini issues in the water.
Whether it's having your swimmers in unwanted areas when you've taken a wipeout. Or having to re-adjust your bottoms after every duck dive. The struggle is well and truly REAL. I started to become accustomed to having to deal with the burden of ill-fitting and unpractical bikinis. That was until I was asked to review a pair of JOLYN Australia on my surf trip to Bali. GAME CHANGER.

TESTING THE VENT TIE-BACK TOP & BRAZIL SLIM-COVERAGE BOTTOM
When I was asked to choose a bikini to take with me, I chose the VENT TOP & BRAZIL BOTTOM.
The Vent bikini top is the perfect combination of bad-ass performance and chic style. This makes it the ideal bikini top for any girls looking to push themselves in the water. Tie-back straps mean you get the perfect tightness as you can adjust both the ribs and neck. While the centre cut outlets water pass easily though, so it won't slow you down. The cross-back straps also take pressure off your neck, allowing you to enjoy your surf for longer.
I was a big fan of the Vent Top and found it very practical in the surf. But for me I hadn't previously had too many issues with bikini tops as I am a B-Cup. Thus I would recommend our bigger busted sisters to definitely go and have a try of the different styles or even shoot the babes at JOLYNÂ email to get some advice on the best styles for you.
The greatness didn't end there though. The Brazil Bottoms probably changed my days of surfing in a bikini forever. DRAWSTRINGS people!!
Why don't we see more bikinis with drawstrings? Inspired by the Land of Beautiful Bums, Brazil is one of JOLYN's more cheeky styles. These bottoms give you that low-slung, slim cut look, while the drawstring and super supportive construction mean they stay where they belong during action sports.
On my surf trip to Bali, I knew I would be surfing some pretty decent sized reef breaks. If I'm honest, I was pretty sceptical that I would be able to surf in a bikini bottom that I didn't have to adjust at some point.Â
It was on my first surf at Uluwatu on a solid 6ft day that I was proved wrong. The Brazil bottoms stayed in place the whole time, apart from having to maybe pick a wedgie once or twice! The Brazil is fully lined (NO see-through scandals!), tag-less (NO chafing!), insanely durable with reinforced stitching (NO stretching!) and 100% Chlorine-resistant (NO fading!).
Amazing right?!
So if you're a water sports lover like me and like looking good, but also pushing yourself to the extreme get your hands on a pair of JOLYNs. They're not only beautifully made but come in a massive range of colours and styles to suit women of all shapes and sizes. And at an affordable price (land a set for under $100!) I promise you it won't be your last purchase from them.
Check out the whole JOLYN collection, as there are loads of other bikini styles that are great for surfing - from Triangles to Onesies. They even have a full bikini range for volleyball!Â
