Wanna step up your Instagram game to share your fresh JOLYN’s, the gorgeous scenery on your hike, or how cute your pets are with the world? Here’s some advice from expert photographers that’ll turn you into an absolute pro at ‘gram’n. Check out these 5 hot tips on exploring your creative side and taking eye-capturing snaps of your surroundings.
You may also want to pass some of this advice on to your friends, family or ‘boyfriend of Instagram’, so they know how to take an epic shot of YOU that will truly show off your beauty, because the world needs to see it ❤️
If there’s one thing you want to get right to take beautiful photos, it’s the lighting. Natural light is faaar superior to artificial lighting, such as your camera flash or fluorescent light bulbs, so head outside and take advantage of the sun’s beaming rays!
If you’re taking pics inside, try to take them near windows or in rooms where the natural light comes flooding in.
It’s not called ‘golden hour’ for nothing! During the first hour of sunrise and final hour of sunset, the sun is glowing low on the horizon, which is an ideal time for taking stunning photos. No filter needed.
It’s very difficult to get a perfect shot at midday under direct sunlight, but if you happen to be shooting at this time, look for cloud cover or shaded areas to take your snaps under.
It’s all about the angles! If you really want to explore your creative side, try switching up your vantage point by crouching down low or climbing up onto something to take photos with a fresh perspective. Snap as many pictures from as many different angles as you can. You might be surprised at which one turns out to be your favourite!
This also applies when your BFF is taking pics of YOU. Make sure she’s exploring different angles to get the shot that shows you (and your JOLYN’s) off the absolute best.
Burst mode should be your go-to for taking snaps at training, an event or during your weekend shenanigans. When you’re taking snaps of your #girlsquad, if you take just one, someone is bound to have their eyes closed, be mid chew, or in a totally bizarre position.
To avoid someone being publicly embarrassed when a group shot showing their worst facial expression is uploaded to the ‘gram, use burst mode to capture multiple images in a short amount of time. Then you can sort through them later to find the one where everyone looks on point!
Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and try something new! It’s always so much more exciting to come across original content on your feed rather than scrolling past the same old pics everyone is uploading. Challenge yourself to diversify your content, test out new angles, or take snaps in a different location.
Don’t get so caught up in IG trends, likes or followers that you lose your own sense of style and creativity. Always be your own unique, authentic self, and you’ll stand out against the crowd.
